Q: How does this work?

A: The first step is sending me an email with your request for decals. I’ll get back to you and ask for further information, such as pictures of your model and pictures of the prototype (the real thing) that show exactly what I need to draw. I’ll respond to you and let you know if it’s something I can do, and I’ll give you a timeframe of when you can expect a draft.

Q: How long does it take?

A: The turnaround time I aim for is 3-4 weeks to get a draft in your inbox, but it may take longer depending on the complexity of the job. Once you’ve reviewed the draft, we go back and forth as needed to perfect the design, and after you approve your final draft, I print it and ship it to you. Make sure you plan ahead and mention if you need decals by a specific date!

Q: What do you charge?

A: Base rate is $10 per 10-minute block of time spent working on your project, plus 35 cents per square inch of printing (which includes regular-speed shipping). Faster shipping will cost extra. I’ll do my best to give a solid cost estimate up-front.

Q: What is your specialty?

A: Trains! I got into this because I needed decals for my trains, but I’ve done street signs, military aircraft, fire trucks, and more! Go ahead and ask if I can draw the thing you need!

Q: What if I already have the artwork?

A: That’s fantastic! Send me an email first, and then we’ll figure out how to get your files over to me. It’s best not to include them in the initial contact email, as they can get caught by the spam filter. Ideally, you have an AI, SVG, PNG, or PDF of what you need.

What type of decals are these and how do I apply them?

The decals I print are clear vinyl stickers. They come with transfer tape overlaid on top of the decals. Use scissors to cut roughly around the shape of the decal, apply it to your model, wait a few minutes for the adhesive to take hold, and then carefully peel off the transfer tape.
